Internet Guerrilla marketing (also spelled guerilla) is a method of unconventional on-line marketing by which small groups of Internet marketing gorillas attempt to use special internet tactics, such as the Gorilla-AdWatch, Gorilla-Submit, Gorilla-Checkup or the now world famous Gorilla-Advantage to find clients "new customers", often at a reduced costs, much lower than the typical marketing agencies.

Typically the smaller budgeted Guerrilla  marketers at the Gorilla marketing network use search engine marketing (SEM) and search engine optimization (SEO) combined with special services  to draw customers into freshly designed sticky web pages which are better suited to selling their clients products, while taking advantage of the Gorilla marketing network's greater speed of campaign delivery.

Often these same Guerilla's will conduct many different successful surprise marketing campaigns  to tightly targeted and overlooked smaller vertical market segments located deep in a clients competitor's territory. 

Primary contributors to modern day uses of guerrilla marketing tactics were learned from warfare theories such as Cossacks, Mao Zedong, Abd el-Krim, Chatrapati Shivaji, T. E. Lawrence, Vo Nguyen Giap, Josip Broz Tito, Michael Collins, Tom Barry, Che Guevara, Ho Chi Minh, and Charles de Gaulle.

Etymology - The term "Guerrilla"

Guerrilla, from the Spanish term guerra, or War, with the -illa ending diminutive, could be translated as small war. The Spanish word itself, may have its origins in the early Germanic word werra or perhaps the middle Dutch word warre. Adopted in Hispania around the 5th century by the Visigoths. The use of the diminutive is probably to evoke the difference in size between the guerrilla army and the state army against which they fight. The term was invented in Spain to describe the tactics used to resist the French regime instituted by Napoleon Bonaparte. It's meaning was soon broadened to refer to any similar resistance of any time or place. The Spanish word for guerrilla fighter is guerrillero. According to the OED, the term guerrilla was used in English as early as 1809 to describe the persons involved rather than just the tactics. In most languages the word still denotes the specific style of warfare. However, this is changing under the influence of broad English usage. Hence the Marketing Gorillas.
